Stuck for gift ideas for Father’s Day? Take heart.  Realize that you’re only stumped for the moment because there are so many choices in the first place.

Feeling better already?  You soon will, and as you feel your body restore calm to all of your senses, now you can take stock of what Dad would really most love to receive.  Is there something he’s been needing for a long time but hasn’t had time to buy?  Does he have a favorite hobby he loves to work on in his spare time?  Would it be something shiny and store-bought or something more earthy and hand-crafted at home?

Every Dad is different, which is just fine since there’s something for everyone in the modern world.  So don’t for a second go worrying that you won’t find it amidst all those other gift ideas for Father’s Day.  It’s especially easier than ever with the Internet, and you can pay the extra money for faster shipping if you’re cutting it close again (didn’t you learn your lesson last year?)

On the other hand, the local mall and big box stores usually have many options too, even if it’s not the seemingly infinite horn of plenty found online.  You’ll do best at these places if you’re going for clothing, hardware, books or any of the more traditional categories.  But if he’s into flying model airplanes, you might be hard-pressed to find what you’re looking for.

Of course, if you still don’t know what that is, it’s time to get enlist some help.  Ask some of his closest friends or confidants to spill the beans.  You might also hit up some of his coworkers, if you’ve got access to them.  Hey, it’s for a good cause after all: Dad!

Whatever you do, don’t give up and buy him a traditional tie or–God forbid–socks or underwear. If you feel it coming to that, why not consider a gift certificate instead?  Or invest in your money in a Father’s Day experience rather than a product gift at all.  Take him out to his favorite restaurant and let him pig out.  Go to a golf course for a round of eighteen on you if that fits his fancy.  Or you can even make it a full-on family affair at an amusement park.
