Pregnancy can be a wonderful time in any woman’s life. There are many changes coming soon and taking the time to prepare ahead can help relieve the stress of living with those changes, making your pregnancy and first few weeks with the baby a real joy.
If you are planning to breastfeed your baby you will want to think about buying a cover-up apron or shirt that will allow you to keep everything private when you have to breastfeed in public on rare occasions. This is an item that is very inexpensive but has so much value; most women consider it a must-have.
Start thinking ahead of what you will need to have at home when the baby comes. You will not want to rush around to get essentials together when the baby is home with you that first week. Stock up on common things like diapers, wipes, crib sheets, burp cloths, and bottles in advance. Also start researching higher priced items you will need by looking at baby monitor reviews, car seat reports, and stroller reviews. Doing this ahead of time will save you stress later.
Get in the habit now of drinking plenty of water during the day. It has been said that water cures all minor ailments. This is true for your baby too. While you are pregnant your body needs lots of water, if you deprive yourself of the right amount of water it could lead to unnecessary complications during your pregnancy. Don’t drink too much before going to bed though; your later stages of pregnancy will increase your urge to urinate so you’ll want to stop your water intake at least an hour before you go to bed.
You’ll also need to change gears about what you eat if you don’t already eat healthy. The baby growing in your right now needs nutrients from vegetables and fruit that are essential to his or her little body. If you typically eat out a lot or find yourself eating fast food often, start by getting used to a healthy shake option so that you start to get the nutrients that you need to deliver a healthy baby.
You have plenty of time to get ready to become a new mom. The experience will be so much easier and less stressful if you start to get into good habits right now and take the time to plan ahead on simple ideas. Take in as much as you can and enjoy!
